- Hartford (Bradley
International Airport- code BDL)
The closest airport to UMass is
Bradley International Airport (Hartford-Connecticut).
BDL is only 45 minutes driving to UMass and we strongly recommend that you choose
this airport.
BDL also offers daily non-stop flights to/from
Amsterdam via Northwest Airlines.
Once you have landed safely in BDL, you can either (i) rent a car or
(ii) made a reservation for a shuttle service. There are two shuttle services available,
the Valley
Transporter, and Seemo
Shuttle (on-line reservation available). Rates are around $40 each way, depending on the time and shuttle service.
You will need to reserve a seat ahead of time.
Unfortunately, there is no bus service from Bradley to Amherst anymore.
- Boston
(Logan International Airport- code BOS)
Logan airport is approximately 2 hours driving to UMass (without traffic).
Once you have landed safely in BOS, you can either (i) rent a car or
(ii) take the bus (Peter Pan bus).
You can take the bus either:
- at the airport location. The round trip to
Amherst is ~$72, but it may take 4-6 hours depending on departure time. The first bus
leaves at 7:30am and the last one at 5:15pm.
- or at the Boston
south station. The round trip to Amherst is ~$52 and it takes 3-4
hours depending on departure time. This last option offers more daily connections but you
will need to get to South Station. You can take a taxi from the
airport to South Station (should be less than $25).
You can also take the "T"
(Boston subway), but you will have to change twice: take the blue line to
State, from there take the orange line to Downtown Crossing, and from
there the red line to South Station.
If you have made it this far, from South Station, take the Peter Pan bus to Amherst. The first bus
leaves at 8am and the last one at 8pm.
You will have to change buses in Springfield, MA
